What are the reasons for female hair loss?
Heredity, hormones and age cause hair loss. A woman’s genetic makeup determines if hair follicles are sensitive to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) causing the follicles to shrink. This “shrinkage” results in overall thinning with time. In addition, the aging process can weaken the hair follicle and consequently the hair shaft. This causes permanent thinning hair and balding.

What determines if I'm a good candidate for a surgical hair transplant?
The determination is based on how large of an area needs to be transplanted and how dense the hair is in the donor site, which would be a strip between the ears midway down the back of the head.
